Fixed braces in Loughborough
Metal fixed braces are efficient and precise for teeth straightening. Sometimes known as train tracks or silver braces, fixed braces in Loughborough consist of metal brackets and wires which are bonded to the teeth. The glue won’t damage your teeth in any way, but it is strong enough to ensure the brackets will remain in position for the duration of the treatment. The brackets are connected using a wire, which guides the teeth into position. You will visit your orthodontist in Loughborough every few months for a check-up and an adjustment to ensure the fixed metal braces are working as they should. However, if you think you would prefer the look and appearance of clear braces, please visit our Invisalign page.

FAQS
Your dentist has referred you because he or she would like more information about the position of your teeth, or the way in which they are growing. As a specialist orthodontist in Loughborough, Dr Gosal can provide the details and treatment needed. If you have any questions, we’ll be able to answer them.
The braces are bonded to your teeth, they will not fall off unless they have been damaged. The easiest way to damage them is by not being careful about what you eat and drink. If you do accidentally damage your braces, please give us a call and we’ll arrange an appointment to repair them.
The braces themselves won’t damage your teeth, but you will be more at risk of tooth decay as brushing your teeth is more of a challenge. We recommend you use a manual toothbrush rather than an electric one and we’ll give you advice on how to reach any awkward places. Cutting out sugary food will help prevent decay and plaque.
The treatment time depends on how many teeth need to be moved. The average time period is just 18 months.
Be careful not to eat sticky or chewy food, like sweets or chewing gum. These can get stuck in your braces and break the wires. Hard, crunchy foods such as apples and carrots, should be cut up into small pieces and biting down on ice should be avoided altogether. Your dentist will go through this with you before you begin teeth straightening in Loughborough.
